Beauty Blogger Tag

Hi everyone! I have mentioned several times that I will be heading on a big overseas trip and now it is so close I can taste it! I Will be heading to Vancouver on the 19th December to see my family for nine days over Christmas, then New York for three days over new years eve then off to Spain to see some more family for the rest of the time until the 25th of January.

From now until then my shopping and spending escapades will be very limited, so my posting may be slow, and when I go away I don't expect to be able to blog much at all but  oof when I get back...WOOOSHHH!! You will all be hearing about all the latest style and beauty buys I made while I was away, as well as all the amazing things we did so stay tuned and get prepared to be jealous!

I have bought a new pair of shorts lately, the MINKPINK slasher flick shorts but it felt a little bit too weird for me posting pictures of my bum in these shorts on the net so I wont do a full post on them but let me say they are fantastic!

To keep us tied over until my trip instead of abandoning my blog, I decided to do a little old beauty blogger tag that I found on the wonderful sweetaholic beauty blog.

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Curly and frizzy. Picture Hermione Granger in the FIRST Harry Potter film!

2. What is your natural hair color?
Some sort of dark brown but it is hard to say because it frequently gets streaks and slightly bleached from the sun.

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
Salon always. I would never dye my hair myself it would never work properly and would never be able to get all my hair it is so thick!

4. How often do you wash your hair?
I am pretty lucky in that my hair doesn't get that oily. I usually only wash it once or twice a week because it takes so long to style and straighten. I will most likely use dry shampoo in-between washes though.

5. Do you wear the same style every day or change it?
I will usually leave my hair out, straighten it then curl the ends to make a big voluminous wavy look. For work I will just smack it up in a pony tail so it doesn't cover my ID badge.

6. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
A bit of both although I don't really do either that often anymore. I'm too lazy.

7. How often to you change your nail polish?
Whenever I am wearing it??

8. Do you polish your toes in the winter, too or just in the summer?
Only recently started doing my toes and I like it! So will make sure my feet are always properly presentable and pedicured now no matter what the season.

9. How long does it take to put on your makeup?
Anywhere between ten minutes and an hour depending on what I want to do.

10. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
I have a habit of doing my face first but I try to keep reminding myself to do my eyes first to avoid the frustration of shadow spillage.

11. Do you "collect" makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
A bit of both. I try to be very frugal with my money but sometimes I go through impulsive phases where I have to buy everything that I see on all the blogs and try it for myself. I just never want to be missing out on what 'everyone' else has!

12. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
Never unless I have to on stage. I hate them. They are vile.

13. Do you do a full face of makeup every day?
No way. I am way to lazy for that and I like to let my skin recover and breathe after being covered up.

14. Do you wear makeup when you are home alone (or with family)?
No. Unless I am reading through blogs and fancy having a go at a new tutorial or something, but I will usually save it for the next time I go out anyway.

15. Will you leave the house without makeup?
Of course, especially if I am not planning to meet up with anyone I know. However there are always those times where I have bumped into people and sorely regret leaving the house without at least a little bit of powder or something!

16. How many high end products do you have?
Not sure. A few? Depends on what you classify as high end, but I guess more and more with every positive review of something I read.

17. How often do you wash your makeup brushes?
Probably not enough. Whenever I start noticing colour mixes I don't approve of and whenever I can get around to it.

18. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you are getting dressed?
Only if I have to wake up early in the morning and I know I will be in a hurry. Otherwise I take my time and coordinate as I get dressed.

19. How often do you change your handbag?
When the old one starts getting tatty and falls apart haha! I'm not that into bags and will pretty much just use what i've got.

20. What time do you get up & go to sleep?
Depends on my shifts. I like to wake up at around nine or ten in the morning on my days off, I can't really seem to ever sleep in any later than that.

21. How often & when do you workout?
Never at the moment. I am working on changing this!!

22. Left-handed or Right-handed?
I'm a leftie :-)

23. How tall are you?
164 centimetres or five foot four I think it is. JUST outside of the 'petite' clothing size category.

24. Do you speak a foreign language?
Some Spanish.

25. How many pets do you have?
I have the one crazy and wonderful ferret Ace.

26. How often are you on Blogger?
Most days I will have a quick flick through some blogs. Though I am finding increasingly difficult to keep up lately with so many things up in the air to stress about lately.

27. Do you read the comments posted blogs?
Absolutely! Especially if I am interested in the post. Get involved in the discussion!

28. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
Yes and it is terrible because it just ends up being a massive shopping list!

29. How did you come up with your blog name?
Creer que in Spanish is to believe something or to think something. So conjugating that into creo que being I believe that... and creoquekim technically means I think that kim or something along those lines but its Spanish and I'm Spanish and its about thinking which is what I do with my blog and it sounds nice lol.

30. What kind of camera do you use for photographs?
A regular point and shoot kinda thing.

31. How often do you clean your house? (Daily, weekly, other)
At least weekly otherwise it just gets filthy and I get a bit stressed knowing there is cleaning to do. I don't mind clutter and character as long as nothing is actually dirty.

32. What is your favorite color?
I don't know, black because it goes with everything? I do like my greens and purples too though. I can say I generally hate yellow though.

33. What is your favorite beauty/fashion magazine?
Can't say I really have one. I guess I am more into the blogs!

34. Do you swear?
I try not to because it is so horrible whenever I hear my students swear but amongst close friends I may let one slip.

35. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Some job hunting/deciding upon offers (yes I have more than one possible offer argh!) Then will possible visit each of my parents for some lunch and enjoy the whole weekend off because next week I will be working every day from the 3rd until the 9th!

Hope that was a little bit interesting, sorry for the lack of pics!

Some Kristen Stewart Sneakers

Some Kristen Stewart Sneakers

Frye shoes / Converse / Keds ® shoes, $48 / Converse sneaker / Converse sneaker, $69 / Canvas Authentic / Womens Nike Starlet Saddle Cvs

Lately I have been really into Kristen Stewart's original comfy, casual style. She used to wear sneakers just about all the time but recently since scoring a job with Balenciaga she has obviously been wearing a lot of their clothes (which I will be having a sneaky look at when I go to Barneys in New York soon!) and looking a lot more 'high fashion' and less casual.

To feed my little obsession lately I have put together this little collection of some of the shoes I have seen her wearing the most. I have had the black Converse high tops since I was 14 and have just started wearing them again recently as I try some of my 'K-Stew' inspired outfits. I have never owned a pair of the low-tops so might have to grab a red and white pair on my travels coming up. Not sure if the Nikes are exactly the same as hers but they are very similar. She has a pair of blue Vans but apparently they are a limited release from 1996 and very hard to get hold of so I posted a similar pair in my collage. I like these black keds even if they do look very basic and simple. I have probably already mentioned that the Frye Kira sneakers are on my definite shopping list. I will be getting a pair of low tops in grey and high tops in black (just like Kristen haha!).

Which celebrity styles do you look to for fashion inspiration? Are you like me and do you like to hunt for exact matches?

Byredo Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum

Gypsy water is my HG fragrance. I haven't found a perfume that sits so well on me and lasts so long since first trying Chanel No.5. (And I think this one is more suited to younger women too).

Ace has decided to feature himself in another post!

Top: Bergamot, lemon, pepper, juniper
Mid: Incense, pine needles, Orris
Base: Amber, vanilla, sandalwood

It took me so long to actually buy this because the scent keeps changing the longer I wear it. I would try it on while shopping, fall in love it with, then go back the next time to buy it, only to try it again fresh and decide I don't like it anymore. I think it was coming across as too spicy for me on the first spray as opposed to the warm, comforting vanilla smell I was growing accustomed to as I wore it.

This scent is marketed as 'unisex' however I would find it just a little bit too sweet on a man. MissLewis writes a review on the Mecca website:

"This scent wears impeccably. It's not too sweet, not too feminine or masculine, is not cloying and is not going to overpower your senses. The base notes of vanilla and sandalwood are the most prominent when warmed by the skin. To me this parfum feels like fresh laundry. If you idenitfy with the notes you will probably dicover this to be your signature scent as there is an intangible quality about the blend that makes you feel like you were meant to wear it. Gypsy Water is divine."

I only wish my fresh laundry could smell like this perfume! I definitely can relate to feeling like I was meant to wear it. I feel clean, confident and complete with a spritz of this fragrance.

Gypsy water can be purchased from Mecca Cosmetica in Australia at $158 for the 50ml bottle or $235 for 100ml. This is a very steep price for me but I could not resist treating myself to this one especially since adopting it as my 'signature scent'.

Have you tried Gypsy Water or any other Byredo Perfumes?

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

I got myself an Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette yay! Now I know you are all probably thinking, "ummm, welcome to the party" but here it is and better late than never right?!
I'm not going to do a full review or anything because there are billions of them out there already. I just wanted to share the happiness and officially initiate myself into the beauty blogger community now that I own this palette haha! Some quick pictures...

I ordered mine at for $55AUD which seems to be more or less the standard going price for this set. I am really liking the colour of the lip gloss that came with it as well as the double ended brush, very convenient! Beautybay took forever to ship this to me (nearly three whole weeks) but they do offer free international shipping which is nice.

So far I am really loving pistol, verve and snakebite. Can't wait to try out all the others in various combinations!

What looks have you made with this palette? Send me a link or list your fav colours and where to put them around the eyes! Would love some ideas and inspiration to get working on this palette!

October Wishlist

October Wishlist

Wildfox Couture black boatneck sweater

I love this sweater! If I didn't already have two printed white Wildfox jumpers I would have bought this one in an instant, its so cute! It's nearly summer here in Australia too so I would hardly get to wear it :-(

Furry vest
$645 -

I have been seeing a lot of fur vests here and there lately and I like the look. Again, very much a winter item and my timing is terrible but I will perhaps be keeping an eye out for one of these during my upcoming travels.

$160 -

After my recent FRYE boots purchase I have really gotten into the brand and now have an eye for these kira sneakers. I want the high-top version though but I couldn't find a pic of them in black so here are the low tops. Cute too I think! Very Kristen Stewart too, who I like to channel in my style choices.

True Religion Brand Jeans 'Western Horseshoe' Baseball Cap

I see these hats all the time and can't wait to bag myself one when I visit the states!

Face care

I have been meaning to grab a face mask from lush for quite some time now but I can never decide which one to try first, they all look so delicious!

What have you been lusting over lately?

Second Last Bellabox

I recently cancelled my Bellabox subscription just because I was getting quite a backlog of unused samples and I have too many bits and bobs lying around. This is the one I got for October and I will be receiving one more for November which actually works perfectly because after that I will be going overseas for my big holiday woo!

This month was all about being pretty in pink! In addition to what I have photographed up the top they also sent me a gorgeous pink heart chocolate which I couldn't wait to eat even to take a shot first haha! I have had this box for a couple of weeks now so have been able to give nearly everything a good try.

The Estee Lauder resilience lift is like a slightly cloudy/creamy serum that you can put on any time of day, as often as you want, even over make-up for an instant skin lift. I notice it makes my skin really perky and smooth as I put it on and I love it! They said on the info that over time it can even boost collagen levels in your skin and promote skin elasticity. Not a cheapie though, so might not be buying this one soon but maybe one day. The Clinique turnaround concentrate had the same feel and texture of the resilience lift but claims to work as a serum that accelerates the renewal of skin cells on your face. I have been trying so many different things on my face lately, it's hard to attribute any success to one particular thing but using both of these I have had no problems at all and I am liking the improvements I am seeing regardless!

I was happy to receive TWO lippies in my Bellabox this month. Both pink of course, one, a shimmery and glossy shade from elf and another a pink-stick balm from carmex. Carmex balms never fail to moisturise my lips as I sometimes have problems with this working under harsh air-conditioners (haha poor me) and in an indoor smoking environment. I love how I can whack carmex on and let it work its magic, keeping my lips comfortable and even helping them heal when they get chapped or broken.

Not sure if I am a fan of this shade but will be sure to try the claimed 'instant drying' effect as soon as my nails recover from my last visit to the nail salon (I got acrylics done for a photo shoot).

As you can see this was a very little sample but I was so pleased to see it came with a tiny little push-pump at the top so I didn't have to drop and rub it onto my skin like with so many other fragrance samples, very convenient! This scent didn't really do much for me. It is fresh but I found it very, very floral. I know this is a very popular scent but I guess it's obviously not for everyone.

I have used this twice on my hair after washing it but never got around to blowdrying it. I just let it dry naturally so I can't really comment yet on wether or not it really reduced blow drying time. I did like how it wasn't sticky at all, like many heat protectors and it didn't weigh my hair down or make it look like it was full of product. Some promising qualities, will have to get around to actually doing my hair properly!

MY NEW FRYE BOOTS! (warning, lots of pics)

I had recently been looking around for a new pair of military style lace up boots. There were many that I nearly bought but for one reason or another just didn't make the cut. I was having a browse on my favourite shopping website and saw that the Frye Engineer 8R boot in black was one of their very top sellers. Looking at the pictures on the site I didn't think much of these boots to start with until I had a quick squizz on google images to see tons of celebrities and fashion bloggers alike wearing these boots. I became hooked. I could see so many different ways of wearing these shoes and I loved all of the different styles. They looked so amazing and versatile when worn as  opposed to looking a bit plain and boring on the revolve website.

I am a bit of a sucker for buying 'the exact thing' I see a celebrity wearing, so when I saw the likes of Keira Knightley, Miley Cyrus and Minka Kelly wearing them it only made me want them even more! I got them in the mail soon after ordering them and have been wearing them every day since! I can't get enough of them they are amazing! I only hope it won't be too hot to wear them with shorts as summer approaches here in Australia but still, they are going to be PERFECT for my trip overseas coming up in December. But enough of my raving for now, here are some pics. Enjoy looking at my boots modelled by me in my purple galaxy leggings from blackmilkclothing and have fun thinking about all the weird and wonderful positions I had to twist myself into taking these photos haha!

The standard shot

the white stuff you see in these couple of photos is just the really old carpet coming off onto my boots. I brushed it off and it was fine

These complete the look of wearing leggings and an oversized tee/sweater and look really badass too. They also look fantastic with a range of dresses. I have worn them with skimpy tight clubbing dresses as well as cute flowing spring dresses. They have heaps of room around the leg so you can fit them over your jeans too. They look amazing paired up with jeans and a leather jacket!

Because these boots are so popular they go in and out of stock all the time but revolve seems to keep good stock of them. I got mine for $215 which isn't super cheap but these boots are built to last through the ages with super sturdy oil resistant leather.

My feet fit in shoes anywhere between an Aussie 8-9. 8 usually fits, sometimes 8.5 and if its a really tight shoe for some reason I will go for a 9 but then the shoe will always have plenty of room. I can squeeze my feet into a 7 if there are no other sizes available and I am desperate for the shoe. I ordered these in a size 8 (Aus and US womens shoe sizes are the same) and they fit perfectly. Not to tight, not too loose. Initially I found them a little hard to get on, as I had to get used to the way my foot would slide and then 'pop' into the bottom bit of the boot. I found there was a little bit of tightness around the arches of my feet but this has gone away as I have worn the boots in more. If you are worried about the sizing being too small then get a half size up. I think that doing that the only problem you MIGHT have would be a little bit of extra room around the heel but they're not going to fall off either way because of the style.

I now have my sights set on the Kira High Top sneaker after seeing Kristen Stewart wearing them here and there (as much as she is criticised for having little facial expression, I love her hair and style!). I have a bit more research to do and a bit more saving before buying them though!

What do you think of my Frye boots? What are your favourite shoes right now? Do you have boots similar to these and are just as infatuated with them as me?

Isika Spa Retreat

This week Tom and I had our 3 year anniversary! We spent the Saturday shopping for gifts for each other then on Sunday I booked us a private room in the day spa at the resort where I work. At the beauty boutique next to the spa I also bought a fantastic new lip gloss which I will share too.

My bubble bath prepped and ready to go!

The ISIKA Plate Ritual with lots of goodies to pamper myself with!

Me creepily enjoying my champagne before hopping into the spa haha!

I was fascinated by this amazing spa shower!

Needless to say my skin and hair felt amazing after using the products from the ritual. The body polish (darkest beige colour in the pic) was particularly effective being packed full of granules of all different sizes. I didn't care much for the face moisturiser at the end because it smelled a bit 'chemically' however it didn't aggravate my skin or anything so all good there!

I first tried this lipgloss a few weeks ago when I borrowed it off another girl I was filming a commercial with and knew I had to get my hands on it as soon as possible! It is AVEDA lip shine in grapefruit and cost me $27 after my staff discount. It looks pink in the tube but when you put it on your lips it looks a lot more nude. It is also quite sparkly but again, when put on your lips it just comes across as a nice natural glossy sheen which I like. I smells and tastes like any of those plumping glosses you can find, with a pepperminty aroma.I can see I am going to run out of this one very quickly because it is one of those lip colours that you can just wear everyday with any look or even without any other make-up!

Flour-less Banana Pancakes

I recently found a recipe for flour-less banana pancakes here and was really impressed with how simple it looked so I decided to give it a go!

All you need is a ripe banana and two eggs to make a portion for one person (I got two pancakes out of my mix). You mash up the banana, beat the eggs, mix them together, throw it all on the frying pan and off you go!

I didn't have a potato masher so I chopped up my banana and mashed it up with a fork instead. Make sure your banana is nice and super ripe so this bit is easy.

The raw ingredients

Mixing it up (not the most appetizing-looking thing at this stage!)

As you can see I am a terrible cook as I cant get a proper pancake shape but this is actually a very good standard for me! I think that 'banana omelette' would be a more fitting name for this recipe. They are not bad and definitely worth a try. The taste of the banana really comes through nicely. A very good diet recipe as they are high in protein, relatively low in calories and of course, all natural. I had mine with a bit of honey too.

Let me know how your attempt at this recipe goes!

LUSH: "Sweety Pie" and "It's Raining Men"

I bought these two body washes a while ago but kind of forgot I had them and now I have been using them a lot recently because I can't get enough of these wonderful smells! I started using them when I ran out of my usual Palmers cocoa body wash and now I'm not sure if I want to go back!

What I love about both of them is how they fill the bathroom with their aroma after a shower as well as leaving my skin feeling soft, clean and gently scented. Their smells are indeed what drove me to buy them both from the shops.

Ace was helping me blog today!
The main ingredient in this body wash is honey! This worried me a little as I thought it would be sticky and difficult to wash this but there was no problems at all. It squeezes out of the bottle like honey but it is far less 'syrupy' than pure honey. It makes a light lather and I use it all over my body, I haven't tried it in my hair though like it says you can!

With flash so you can see more of the sparkles

Sweety pie smells so amazing, if you are a fan of blackcurrant you absolutely cannot go past this one! I wish they made this jelly in more flavours, a strawberry, honey or vanilla version of this stuff would drive me wild! The jelly stays together so you need to cut it up or scratch/scoop out sections with your fingers to use it. I take a little bit and scrub it into my loofah. It bubbles up like crazy and you only need a very small amount, this will last you a very long time! It has tons of blue sparkles all through it that don't show up much in my photos and I haven't noticed any left on my skin after a wash but still a nice touch I think!

What are your favourite body washes at the moment?
